The second public-private partnership PPP report into the running of London's Tube network serves only to vindicate those of us who argued that PPP was a bad deal for Londoners in the first place (Northern line is the worst', July 29).
Despite passengers paying the highest Tube fares in Europe, Metronet and Tube Lines are still failing to provide the station and line improvements to offer an equally high level of service.
Instead we see that Metronet SSL has been awarded more than £9 million in bonuses despite improvement delays of up to 12 months just two years into its 30-year contract.
This news only goes to prove that the Tube PPP is an expensive scheme which delivers bonuses for executives, but little or no benefit for passengers.
These unaccountable private companies are failing the public and, instead of rewarding directors, we should stop using taxpayers' money to subsidise private profits, and create a publicly owned service that benefits all Londoners.
