On her weblog, the constituency's Lib Dem MP Lynne Featherstone describes the high demand for advice surgeries and says that one of the factors for this was because, during the election, there was no sitting MP to hold surgeries. This is not quite correct.
While the Lib Dems were busy distributing campaign literature denigrating their opponents, former Labour MP Barbara Roche was providing walk-in advice surgeries every Friday.
In the same blog, the occasion is recalled when Barbara had to wrestle someone to stop them setting fire to themselves'. Of course, the Lib Dems never mentioned this in the run-up to the election when even the Tories were acknowledging Barbara's hard work.
As with the example of the Lib Dem MP's praise of Barbara in her maiden speech having spent the campaign attacking her the Lib Dems seem to blow hot and cold to suit the occasion.
