Welcome to East Barnet Old Grammarians weekly article.............a much better set of results this week particularly for the higher sides.

The 1sts turned a corner not only with their first win but also with a shut out. Moving Steve Weldon back into central defence and adding Chambers to the midfield would appear to have done the trick. They had a number of Dutch players in the team but fortunately none of them was a Van Persie! This win has lifted EBOG a long way up the table. That man Berry continues to score at the incredible rate of well over a goal a game despite only being on the winning side once!

Similarly the 2nds lifted themselves into 5th place with only 3 League games played.

The 3rds are unstoppable at the moment and brushed aside another Div 1 side with Luke Lane notching another brace and moving in to 2nd place in the goalscorers.

The 4ths had a fine win over Old Owens 5ths to overtake them and secure 3rd place.

The 6ths disposed of a normally strong Meadonians side with Ricky Owers on target despite having a dodgy knee.

Our 7ths had another bad week. It wasn’t apparent until the 8ths and 9ths had left for their games that they had a serious drop-out problem. As the barrel had been well and truly scraped by the lower two sides, there was little left to salvage the team for being seriously short of players. Unfortunately the game had to be conceded which is the first time for a long time and doesn’t reflect well on the Club. By all accounts we had a team’s worth of people at the Arsenal match!

The 8ths were indebted to the efforts of Dave Field and Simon Draper who managed to phone around and find enough people who were prepared to travel to Gants Hill to get thrashed! These noble people deserved better. The 9ths lost one or two players on the way to Wilsonians but got enough on the pitch to get the result. Their reward is to get a trip back to the same place to play Wilsonians 10ths in the next round! At least they should know the way next time. Good to see Bob Gair and his son Harry both putting in a fine performance for his old Club. Also Nick Binz coming down from Lincolnshire after an 11-year absence.
