A HAUL of jewellery found dumped in a brook was recovered by police from Oak Hill Park yesterday afternoon.
Officers are now appealing for help in finding the owner of the items, which were discovered in Pymmes Brook by a resident.
The pieces include a number of necklaces, including a thick gold neck chain and a silver necklace with a large octagonal pendant studded with a green stone.
Police said they have not yet had the items valued, but are thought to hold both sentimental and cash value.
They believe the collection is made up of items taken during a burglary and thrown away, possibly because some pieces are easily recognisable.
To salvage the jewellery police had to improvise using a borrowed ladder and a garden rake to fish the items out of the water.
Sergeant Simon Dawson, who leads the Brunswick Park Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “I hope the owner of these pieces will recognise them and come forward.”
Anyone who recognizes the pieces or thinks they know the owner should call the police on 020 8721 2974.
