PLANNING bosses are still waiting on the outcome of their court action against a Jewish school operating illegally in Golders Green.
Barnet Council last week sought a High Court injunction against Beis Hamedrash Elyon school, in Golders Green Road after it ignored numerous planning enforcement notices.
Retrospective planning permission was denied in 2003 and the Planning Inspectorate have previously upheld the council's decisions.
The council said they have taken the action after receiving a number of complaints relating to noise and other matters from neighbours.
Council chiefs last week met the school's lawyers and hierarchy in the High Court with the aim of gaining an injunction.
They said: “The council has tried over a period of several months to pursue a number of alternative avenues to come to a solution with the operators of the school, but has not been able to resolve the matter satisfactorily.
“Therefore, the only option was to seek an injunction against the school operators, which will prevent them from reopening in September.”
The judge is currently considering his decision, which is expected in late July or early August.
