A TEENAGE rebel has been handed an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo) by the courts after causing misery for people living on an estate in the borough.

The 17-year-old boy from Colindale, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been handed the order after dozens of complaints were made to police about his behaviour around Grahame Park.

Officers said he is well known in the area for carrying out alleged drug-related disorder, and residents made regular calls about him to the Colindale Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

The two-year Asbo was handed to the boy at Hendon Magistrates Court last Wednesday, and bans him from entering Grahame Park, except between 9am and 4pm. It also includes a similar banning order beyond Valiant Path, Colindale.

The court said he is not allowed to be in a group of five or more people who are seen to be acting in a way likely to cause people to fear for their safety anywhere in the borough.

PC Joanne Krelle, Barnet police’s antisocial behaviour co-ordinator, said: “This young man has made life miserable for many residents of the Grahame Park estate through his behaviour.

“Banning him from his favourite haunts during the hours of darkness will, I am sure, have a significant impact on the quality of life for many residents of the estate and I can guarantee that if he is found to be breaching the order we will arrest him and bring him back to court to face justice.”
