FIRE crews using breathing apparatus yesterday rescued a woman from her burning house in Edgware.

About 15 firefighters were called to the blaze at about 6pm in Harcourt Avenue.

Firefighters used two jets and a hose reel at the semi-detached house and had the flames under control within a few hours.

The London Fire Brigade said about 75 percent of the downstairs and half of the upstairs of the property was damaged in the fire.

The adult woman, who was led to safety from the burning building, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
