FRESH from her tour with chart-topping band the Sugarbabes, rising electropop singer Alex Roots performed a special acoustic concert at a school for special needs children in East Finchley.
The 16-year-old took to the stage at Oak Lodge School, Heath View, on Friday for their end of term assembly, singing a 30 minute set accompanied by a guitarist.
In front of an audience of more then 160 students, many with complex needs and moderate learning difficulties, Ms Roots sang tracks from her soon to be released album 'Adrenaline Rush'.
After the concert Ms Roots, who will be supporting the Sugarbabes again the summer, said: "It was the most amazing experience ever, I felt so privileged to be able to go there.
"It was a lovely school with lovely kids, they really enjoyed the music and were so perceptive. I actually got a bit emotional."
Headteacher of the school, Lynda Walker, said it was a great expereince for the students, many of whom had "googled" the pop singer before her apperance.
"They'd all seen her songs on youtube so it was exciting for them to see her in the flesh," she said.
"She was fantastic, everyone really enjoyed the performance and it was nice to have someone who was young to come and visit us, it gave the students someone they could really relate to."
