A PARTY to raise money for wounded war heroes will hit the streets of Hendon tomorrow.
Deputy Mayor of London Richard Barnes will kick off festivities on the green behind the Claddagh Ring pub, in Church Road, at 12pm, before a host of performers take to the stage.
The aim of the day is to raise funds for Help for Heroes, a national charity that supports wounded servicemen.
Elaine Krasniqi, 50, manager of Chequers pub, in Greyhound Hill, organised the party to bring the community together.
She said: "It is all going swimmingly and we're confidence it will be a great success.
"We want to show people what war is all about, in the hope children will understand what our soldiers are doing out there.
"It will be a fun day, but with a strong message."
Ms Krasniqi and a group of helpers raised £1,390 bag packing in Asda, in Colindale, on Saturday, and she hopes to raise a further £4,000 at the event.
Youth theatre groups, leading authors, bands and singers will entertain the crowds, while a BBQ and refreshment stalls provide sustenance.
The day is being supported by the emergency services, the Army, the RAF and the Navy.
Several war veterans and Hendon MP Andrew Dismore will also be attending.
The event, from 12pm and 8pm, is free and all are welcome.
