A VULNERABLE 14-year-old was abducted and raped in a Golders Green Park at the weekend.
Police were called at about 11.20am on Sunday by the victim who said she had been snatched, assaulted and then raped by two men.
The teenager, who has learning difficulties, said she had been walking down Claremont Road, in Cricklewood, between 6.30am and 7.30am when two men in a silver or grey car pulled over to speak to her.
She continued walking but one of the men grabbed her arm and bundled her into the back of the car.
Police said she was driven to Basing Hill Park, in Wayside, where she was assaulted before being put back in the car and taken to a property in the Vauxhall Bridge area, where she was raped and then let go.
The school girl then went to a telephone box and called police, about five hours after her ordeal began.
Forensics experts sealed off the playground area and hard courts in the Golders Green park immediately after the attack to look for evidence.
The restricted area, which included a shelter building and a coffee shop, was reopened on Monday after detectives had interviewed the girl that afternoon.
The suspects are described as two black men, aged about 18. One suspect, who grabbed the girl, was wearing a brown jacket. The second man, who was the driver, was wearing a red jacket.
Acting Detective Inspector Neil Rawlinson, from the Barnet Sapphire Team that investigates sex attacks, said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the Cricklewood area at the time and saw a young girl being spoken to by the occupants of a silver or grey car, or dragged into the vehicle and driven away.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in Basing Hill Park that morning.
“This type of incident is fortunately rare and the victim, who has learning difficulties, is being fully supported by officers from the Sapphire Team.”
He said there have been no arrests but said enquiries were on going.
Anyone with information is asked to call 020 8733 5062 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The incident follows a rape in another of the borough’s parks last month.
Two men attacked a 22-year-old in Sunny Hill Park, Hendon, on Friday, June 19, leading to police stepping up patrols in the area.
Officers emphasised that the two rapes were not connected but have issued advice to women on how to keep safe.
They said people could be reassured that assaults on women are rare and that they should “go about their daily lives without fear”.
The precautions include keeping to well-lit main roads, avoiding deserted areas, and not taking short cuts through alleyways, waste ground or wooded, bushy areas.
Women are also urged to walk facing the traffic so a car cannot pull up unnoticed behind and never hitch-hike or take lifts from strangers.
If anyone feels threated by someone in a car they should scream and shout and run away in the opposite direction to which the car is facing so that it is difficult for them to follow.
