FREE swimming times have changed at a public Potters Bar pool, allowing residents to take an early dip.
Hertsmere residents aged 60 and over, and 16 and under, can now swim for free between 7.30am and 9.30am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the Furzefield Centre, in Mutton Lane.
The other session times will remain as 4pm to 6pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 1pm to 4pm on Saturday.
Councillor Brenda Batten, cabinet member for leisure, culture and health, said: "The morning sessions have been changed in response to feedback from residents using the scheme and to fit in with the centre's summer schedules.
"Older users have expressed they would like to swim earlier in the day, and since the scheme is currently provided on a trial basis, it gives us the opportunity to try a different time slot."
Anyone who does not have a Hertsmere Leisure card will need to apply for a swim card and provide proof of age and residency.
The programme's popularity will be reviewed after September 30 to decide if it should continue.
Councillor Batten added: "The scheme is a fantastic way for children and young people as well as older people to lead a healthier lifestyle without having to spend a penny.
"Swimming is a great form of exercise for young and old as it puts little stress on your body and works all the major muscles.
"It also helps young people improve their fitness and reduces health risks such as heart attack, stroke and dementia for older people."
