A SENIOR Barnet councillor has been re-elected to her role on a London wide committee.
Deputy leader of Barnet Council, Lynne Hillan was re-elected yesterday as chairman of London Council's grant committee.
The vote came at the annual general meeting, and Ms Hillan will juggle the role with her positions in the borough, which include being ward councillor for Brunswick Park and cabinet member for resources.
She will have responsibility of chairing decisions on how £28.6 million is distributed each year to commission services from more than 300 groups working across London.
The money is used to aid projects aimed at improving experiences for people across the city.
Ms Hillan, who has been on the borough's council for more than 10 years, said she was delighted to be re-elected to the position.
“Historically, our grants have helped many third sector organisations provide services to people who visit, work or live in London,” she said.
“In the current economic climate, these grants will provide necessary assistance to the most disadvantaged people in the capital at a time when the demand on our voluntary services is extremely high.”
