Mill Hill 4 - 3 Rover Oxford Mill Hill moved their points tally into double figures with their best victory of the season against a well drilled Oxford team.
However the game could so easily have swung the other way as the home side evoked painful memories of the previous week's defeat by surrendering a 3-1 lead. In the space of just two minutes a couple of clinical strikes brought Oxford level and the jitters began to set in. Salvation came in the unlikely shape of Nick Warr. Trapping the ball around the penalty spot, he turned and shot in one movement past the stunned Oxford keeper and the game was over.
Mill Hill had worked hard for their lead.
Mark Hellicar did his impression of errant left back and part-time plumber roger caspar, disappearing for months and emerging only to score, which he did twice. Both were somewhat scrappy but neverthesless deserved.
In contrast, Mill Hill's first was an absolute peach.
Pete Lazlett nudged a 16 yard hit to Ryan Sclanders, who embarked on a typically direct run. The pace of the move caught the visiting defence cold allowing Apay Obang-Oway to steal unnotice into the D. As the keeper advanced, Sclanders slipped the ball right for a simple finish.
The north londoners have now lost just one of their last four and finally produced some patches of play that justify their presence in the senior leage. It won't be enough to escape relegation however, with a league reorganisation meaning more than a third of the premier league's teams are facing the drop.
