What a difference a week makes. The Club was bathed in sunshine and coats were left at home but don’t be surprised if it snows again!
A defining game for the 1sts who needed to beat 4th placed Broomfield to establish their promotion credentials. Unfortunately, they flattered to deceive and after a good start where they made some golden chances, they wilted once Broomfield began to convert theirs. 0-3 down at halftime with only 10 men they did well to take the game to Broomfield in the final 20 minutes.
The 3rds also had a ‘must win’ against the bottom side where 6 points would put them in a position to look up rather than over their shoulder. So it turned out with Van Gucci showing the old goalscoring magic is still there.
A tough game for the 4ths who were also up against the 4th placed side but they managed to grab 6 points which hauls them up to 5th place just behind them.
The 5ths met yet another 4th placed side but were never really in it despite Richie Barker missing a penalty.
The 6th’s salvaged a point from the side just above them but should have had more. Paul Whitebread rolled back the years with an excellent goal.
The 7ths were up against, you’ve guessed it, the 4th placed side but couldn’t emulate the 8ths victory a few weeks ago.
In contrast the 8th’s were playing their main rivals for bottom spot and firmly put them in their place by moving above them and the 7ths. They also have 4 games in hand on the 7ths and a better goal difference. Perhaps Bondy needs to take a better look at some of the 8ths players?
