Sainsbury's has opened a new flagship store as part of a major regeneration project.
The state-of-the-art 43,000 sq ft supermarket in the Silkstream development in west Hendon opened its doors for the first time on Wednesday (November 20).
The opening is part of a joint project with developer St George, a member of the Berkeley Group, which aims to create a low-carbon, nature-rich neighbourhood of 1,300 new homes.
Sainsbury’s director of group property, procurement and EV ventures, Patrick Dunne, said: "Our partnership with St George and Berkeley Group at Silkstream has proved to be a resounding success and we’re excited that customers and residents alike can now start to enjoy the benefits.
"We’re really looking forward to hearing what customers think of their brand new supermarket and we look forward to seeing Silkstream continue to grow and flourish in the coming years."
The new store will feature Sainsbury's latest supermarket design, including their new ultra-rapid EV charging service, Smart Charge.
St George managing director Marcus Blake said: "Sainsbury’s opening a new store is a significant milestone in the creation of Silkstream and has coincided with our first residents moving into Bower House, the first phase of apartments at our parkland neighbourhood in west Hendon."
