Two brothers from Brent have been jailed after they shot two men in a targeted hit outside a nightclub.

Jahni Thomas, 30, and his younger brother Jahmarley Thomas, 26, were both convicted two years ago of the stabbing and double shooting in Park Royal.

A police investigation revealed that the duo had waited for their victim outside a nightclub in Standard Road in the early hours of November 6, 2021.

When the 28-year-old man appeared shortly before 5.30am, they ambushed him from behind – stabbing him once and shooting him in the left shoulder.

The gunman then ran towards a second 31-year-old man who was attempting to take cover in a car. This second victim was then shot at by the gunman at point blank range.

The bullet went through his left hand, which he had raised to protect himself, and a jacket that was wrapped around it. The man was hit by the bullet in his chest, causing bruising.

After the shooting, the brothers returned to their home address, which police have not revealed for “operational reasons”.

An investigation was launched after firearms officers attended the scene and found the first man with a gunshot wound to the chest and a stab wound to the back.

He was taken hospital where his injuries, although initially serious, were deemed to not be life-threatening following treatment.

The second man's injuries were also found to not be life-threatening.

Police established that the car used in the attack was stolen and had been fitted with cloned plates.

Officers were able to track the car on CCTV for over three hours and 27 miles as it drove around northwest London.

It was eventually found burned out in Springfield Gardens, Colindale.

Metropolitan Police Detective Constable Tom Harris said: “This so easily could have been a murder investigation. The fact that nobody was killed was pure luck.

“The Thomas’ actions were premeditated and planned, with no consideration for the safety of bystanders who may have unwittingly been caught up in the shootings.”

Both brothers were convicted of two counts of attempted murder, one count of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and one count of possession of points and blades at Isleworth Crown Court in December 2022.

On December 1 last year, Jahmarley Thomas was jailed for 34 years, with a further three to be served on licence.

The sentencing of Jahni was adjourned until yesterday (November 8), where he was jailed for 35 years, with a further three to be served on licence.

DC Harris said: “The sentences handed down to the brothers demonstrates the danger they pose and I hope that the victims find a measure of closure in knowing that they have been taken off our streets for a considerable time.”
