A woman said she had to go for hospital treatment after being knocked to the ground by an unrestrained XL Bully dog in a park in Brent on Sunday Night.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, was at Willesden Sports Ground on Sunday night (November 3)  when she said a “chunky, big dog” came out of nowhere, jumped at her back and she fell flat.

The XL Bully did not bite the woman but remained on top of her, the woman claims, with the owner standing beside the dog and not intervening.

After several minutes the owner asked if she was OK, the woman added, before walking away without putting the dog on a lead.

The woman told the Brent and Kilburn Times she was not badly injured but needed her wrist strapped in the hospital, was bruised and has been limping since the incident.

She said she has no issue with dogs and hopes people are not deterred by her encounter, but she claimed there is now “a different crowd of people” on the weekends.

The woman added that she has received numerous cards and letters from people who knew her in the community wishing her a speedy recovery.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "There were no reported injuries to us, it seems as if the dog licked the woman’s face."
