Hundreds of families from north London’s Orthodox Jewish community turned up at Stamford Hill for their Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebration, marking the giving of the Torah and the Ten Commandments.
The second night of Chol Hamoed attracted 1,200 people with a fire act and live music with dancing outside the children’s centre at Lubavitch House in Northfield Road.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our traditions,” Lubavitcher Rabbi Sholem Ber Sudak said. “Seeing so many families come together was truly warming.”
The fire show was followed by live performances from musicians Meni Dubrawsky and Avrumy Rosenbaum, who kept the energy going throughout the night.
Children were also given special gifts, adding to the festive family atmosphere, while community leaders read out messages about “the importance of unity” during this festive time.
The Lubavitch is a missionary Hasidic movement in the Jewish community known for its hospitality, technological expertise and religious study, aimed at religious reforms.
