30 people were evacuated from a building as a flat is on fire in Hackney.
Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to Foulden Road at 1.27pm today (Thursday, October 17).
The fire broke out on the fifth floor of the building. The cause is currently unknown.
Crews from Stoke Newington, Hornsey, Bethnal Green, Whitechapel and surrounding fire stations are currently at the scene tackling the blaze.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters are tackling a flat fire on Foulden Road in Hackney.
“The fire is located on the fifth floor of the building.
“Around 30 people have been evacuated.
“One of the brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders is being used at the scene as an observation tower, providing incident commanders with an aerial view of the incident and better situational awareness.
“The brigade's control room took the first call at 1327 and mobilised fire crews from Stoke Newington, Hornsey, Bethnal Green, Whitechapel and surrounding fire stations to the scene.
“The cause of the fire is not known at this time.”
