Dollis Hill murderer Christopher Walters jailed again

Christopher Walters was serving a life sentence for leading a fatal attack on Luke Fitzpatrick near The Ox and Gate Pub in Dollis Hill in May 2012. 

Walters, then aged 24, had vowed to ‘shut down’ the pub after being humiliated and beaten up by one of the drinkers in a shop across the road. 

He recruited a gang of 15 hoodies and tried to storm the pub armed with a knife, only to be chased off by customers who hurled bottles after them as they ran up the street. 

Luke, who had nothing to do with the previous incident in the shop, joined the pursuit but was ambushed as he turned the corner. 

Walters is believed to have inflicted the fatal wound while others turned on Luke’s dad, Bernard, and stabbed him as he cradled his son.

A decade later Walters, now 35, has been convicted of an attack on a prison officer at HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire. 

Police said Walters launched the unprovoked attack on the officer on January 16 last year. 

He punched the prison officer in the face twice, knocking him out. 

Walters initially denied the attack but pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm during the trial. 

He was sentenced to 13 months in prison to be served concurrently to his existing sentence, life imprisonment with a minimum of 28 years. 

Det Con Emma Purser said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack that left a man needing hospital treatment. 

“Although the sentence is concurrent, it will be taken into account when Walters becomes eligible for parole. 

“Prison officers do a difficult job in challenging circumstances. Attacks like this are completely unacceptable.”
