Another “chat and natter” table has been set up for anyone feeling a bit isolated and fancying having a chinwag with strangers over a cuppa.
This one opened at Las Iguanas Mexican restaurant at Wembley’s London Designer Outlet shopping centre, run by volunteers from Chatty Café charity on the last Friday of every month, and started on July 26.
“Many people experience loneliness,” the centre’s marketing boss Michelle D’vaz Plant said. “So we are keen to support organisations that strengthen community bonds, like Chatty Café, with a space where people can gather with confidence.”
It follows a similar ‘chat and natter’ table set up at Brent Cross last year by the charity to encourage venues to create space for socialising, to address loneliness and self-isolation by kick-starting conversations.
The founder of Chatty Café, Alex Hoskyn, said: “Providing a space shows how simple sharing a conversation over a tea or coffee can make an impact in someone’s day.”
A free cuppa was served up for anyone dropping in on July 26 at the ‘chat and natter’ table from 11 to 1pm.
The regular ‘chinwags’ are on the last Friday of each month from 3 to 5pm.
