A woman from north London is among five people who were charged after a pro-Palestine march.
Around 100,000 people took to the streets of central London on Saturday calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
Laura Davis, 22, of Hendon Way in Barnet, has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.
Police said the offence relates to an incident around Piccadilly Circus where a placard that was “threatening and racist” in nature was displayed.
She will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 29.
A second person was also arrested in the vicinity of Piccadilly Circus on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence also related to a placard.
They were released with no further action to be taken following a decision by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Four other people were also charged following the protest.
This includes 41-year-old Atif Sharif, of Albert Road, Walthamstow, who has been charged with causing actual bodily harm.
Police said that the offence relates to an incident in Whitehall where an officer was assaulted and sustained a head injury.
He will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today (October 30).
In total, nine people were arrested on Saturday, two on suspicion of assaulting police officers and seven of public order offences.
A further two people were arrested on Sunday morning on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.
Their arrests followed a public appeal about an incident in Trafalgar Square on Saturday evening.
The other people charged were as follows:
- Kadirul Islam, 33, of no fixed address - charged with a racially aggravated public order offence to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on December 1 - offence relates to an incident in Waterloo Road where racist abuse was shouted.
- Emma Turvey, 51, of Clarence Road in Grays, Essex - charged with a public order offence to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on November 13 - offence relates to an incident in Whitehall where a can of beer was thrown at a protestor.
- A 16-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons - charged with a public order offence to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on November 15 - offence relates to an incident in Grosvenor Gardens where verbal abuse was directed at officers escorting protestors.
