A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Barnet Lane last night.
The driver left his car, a blue Volkswagen Golf, on foot after striking 36-year-old Whetstone resident Gary Martin at about 10.45pm.
Police and paramedics discovered the rider suffering from serious injuries. He died shortly afterwards at the scene.
A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation. He was subsequently bailed to return to a north London police station at the end of August pending further enquiries.
Police sergeant Mick Cheeseman, of the Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are keen to trace a man seen leaving the scene. He walked off towards the Dollis Valley estate and would have been covered in blood.
"If you saw him or have any information regarding the collision please don't hesitate to contact us."
A post mortem will take place on Thursday at Hornsey mortuary. An inquest will open and adjourn at Hornsey Coroners Court in due course.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the witness appeal line at Alperton Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8998 5319
