Malcolm Gesthuysen reports: The top four pairings in the latest round were drawn, so Helge Hjort has 5/6 and only needs a draw in the last round to retain the title.
Jonathan Landau moved up to joint second place after winning his re-paired game. Justin Robertson, Raj Bhalla and Faye Ainscow also scored impressive wins.
Since David Iwi and Kishan Pattni are unavailable for the last round, there are four players contending for first place: Helge Hjort, Jonathan Landau, Malcolm Gesthuysen and Frank Sabin (graded only 92, but much stronger, as he proved in drawing against second-team captain Chris Rogal, grade 140).
The AGM earlier decided that: a third team will be entered in the Middlesex League (captain required!), subscriptions will remain the same (£3 rebate for early payment, ineligibility for matches if sub not paid), the club name will not be changed, key-holders will inform each other when they cannot attend, a list of phone numbers will be provided, the club championship will be shared in the event of tied scores, match times will be unchanged, existing officers will serve again, David Jones will be chairman.
