Two British sporting legends hit the streets of Grahame Park in a search for the next generation of athletes.
Former sprinters Linford Christie and Darren Campbell, who both have won Olympic gold medals, visited the estate to host an afternoon of sport and music.
Through the Street Athletics programme, organised by Sport England, they aim to find talented sprinters from deprived areas to race against the best that London and, ultimately, the UK has to offer.
Mr Campbell said: "It's great to see the kids on this estate and give them something to believe in. It's nothing for us to give a couple of hours of our time and put on these events for the kids.
"The day is really about young people having fun and maybe realising they've got a few hidden talents. And if they believe in themselves, amazing things can happen."
The pedestrianised concourse area of the housing estate was converted into a 60-metre street track for children to compete on last Thursday. Organisers also staged dance and music performances.
Mr Christie said: "The day's been brilliant and the kids have really enjoyed it. And if the kids enjoy it, so do I. It shows the kids they haven't been forgotten and that there's people out there who actually care.
"We try to show that sport is fun. There's a little bit of discpline but if you can do that and enjoy it, you can apply the same discipline in school."
Clement Adebayo, who runs the Joy Bringers R Us youth club in the concourse, believes meeting the two athletes had a real impact on the young people.
He said: "They are trying to share their own experience and past with young people and that's inspirational for them," he said.
"One of our members made the comment that Linford started off from the streets, like them, and I think that's very valid. He's a real role model for them."
The top three boys and girls from each of the four age categories have been invited to take part in the London heats on Saturday, September 6.
