Concert Series, Edgware and District Reform Synagogue, Stonegrove, Edgware, Sunday, 7.30pm.

A new concert series aims to provide a platform for up-and-coming musicians by programming them alongside more established performers.

Series organiser Rosanne Goldman says: "I want to give more culture to the synagogue, invite in the wider community, and give everyone the opportunity to enjoy professional musicians."

The first concert brings together internationally renowned pianist Margaret Fingerhut and the Goldman Ensemble, who will play music by Brahms and Mendelssohn as well as an original arrangement of the theme from Schindler's List.

Ms Margaret Fingerhut has recorded extensively for Chandos Records and has been an adjudicator for the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition several times.

The Goldman Ensemble were chosen in 2006 to perform a concert in memory of the victims of the London bombings at St Martin-in-the-Fields and performed for the London City Showcase 2007, London's premier showcasing festival.

Later concerts in the series will cover genres from classical music to jazz and klezmer.

Tickets cost £16 (concessions £14) and can be reserved by calling 020 8238 1000.
