Air Force One, the personal aeroplane of US President George Bush, passed over Barnet as the world's most powerful man made his way to Northern Ireland yesterday.

This picture was taken by Finchley resident and amateur photographer Donald Lyven, who spotted the plane on his lunchbreak.

Passing over the borough at several thousand feet was the safe option for Mr Bush, who might have been eager to avoid the fate of his father, former President George Bush, who had tomato juice thrown at him by Mr Lyven's estranged wife, Miranda Dunn, in 2004.
