Around 70 firefighters tackled a blaze in shrouded a north London high street in thick smoke.
Pictures from the scene showed flames rising from the roof of a four-storey building in Cricklewood Broadway this morning (April 21).
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said that part of the roof and the third floor of the building, which contains a shop and flat, was damaged by the fire.
This paper reported earlier today that there was a strong smell of smoke in the area, and that part of the roof of the building had been ripped through by the fire.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at 10.10am after receiving more than 35 calls from the public.
One person left the building before crews arrived.
The blaze was under control at 12.46pm.
The LFB shut Cricklewood Broadway, and people have been advised to avoid the area where possible.
An LFB spokesperson said that ten fire engines from West Hampstead, Kentish Town, Finchley and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
They added that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
