Staff at an adult education college in East Finchley were bemused when they received a water bill addressed to a principal who retired in the 1950s.
The bill, which arrived last week, was addressed to Harold Lacey, who began his tenure at Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute, in High Road, East Finchley, in the 1930s according to the current principal, Fay Naylor.
Mrs Naylor said: "There was a bust of him in the arts centre, which was stolen, but he hasn't worked here for more than 50 years.
"They obviously haven't updated their records."
