Wrestling fans may be surprised to hear of a championship bout being fought at a church in Totteridge tonight.

The Arts Centre, based in All Saints' Church in Oakleigh Road North, is the venue of LDN Wrestling's British Heavyweight championship decider.

Reverend Adrian Benjamin of All Saints, the promoter and legal licensee, will appear in the ring himself to draw the raffle.

He said: "The wrestling is a thrilling event.

"I get to talk with the wrestlers backstage which reminds me of my time as a theatre chaplain."

The Reverend, hosting the event for the fourth time, added that he will serve alcohol on the night while the organisers are to provide the popcorn.

"People ask more questions at the wrestling than they do in church - after a wrestling match people tend to ask all sorts of religious quesitons."

For the first time, a woman's event is to be held with 'Jetta', 21, from Coventry, hosting open challenge matches where anyone can try to defeat her.

The main event will be the title show-down between six foot wrestling champion Yorghos Christpolous, 20, from Harlow, and South London's Deptford-based 26-year-old Michael Mendoza.

Yorghos said:"Last time I battled Michael was in Enfield last month he cheated his way to a victory.

"There is no way I'm not leaving Totteridge still the British Champ."

Mums, dads and children also have the chance to see Maidstone's Bombay Dream newcomer Leroy Kincaid, 23, take on Ross Jordan, 26, a primary school teacher from Hertford, Hertfordshire.

Sanjay Bagga, of organisers LDN Wrestling, said: "Saturday night will truly be a night of fun for the whole family, with over the top entertainers who will undoubtedly put on a great show."

Doors for the event open at 6:30pm with the first fight at 7pm.
