The A41 northbound was closed for five hours yesterday after a refuse lorry overturned near Brent Cross.
The incident happened at around 11.30am, 200 metres before the A406 junction.
The emergency services were called to the scene at 11.55am and the road was closed shortly afterwards. It reopened at 5.20pm after the lorry was cleared from the road.
The driver, who is believed to be in his 50s, said he lost control when trying to avoid a car that pulled out in front of him.
After overturning, the lorry became wedged across the road on its side, its back end almost touching the pavement and its front end almost touching the central reservation.
Nobody was hurt in the incident.
