A man has been arrested in connection with a crash that left a young girl fighting for her life.
Detectives launched an investigation after a hit-and-run in Colney Hatch Lane on Saturday evening (August 20).
Two cars – a red Vauxhall Astra and a black Bentley Continental - were involved at the junction with the A406 North Circular in Friern Barnet at 10.12pm.
A 12-year-old travelling in the Astra sustained critical injuries and police said she was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Her current condition is unknown but her family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers, the Metropolitan Police said.
Two people, thought to have been in the Bentley, were seen leaving the scene of the crash on foot prompting police to launch a public appeal for information.
The Bentley was not reported to be stolen.
On Monday, a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was taken to a north London police station and subsequently bailed to return on a date in late September.
Detectives from the serious collision investigation unit are investigating.
