The cost of illegal parking in the Barnet area will be increasing by £20 in the new year.
A notice from London Borough of Barnet in this week’s edition of the Barnet Borough Times confirms that, following approval from the Mayor of London and Secretary of State for Transport, the borough is being moved into the higher Band A for penalty charge notices.
This means that, with effect from January 12, the charge for more serious breaches will increase from £110 to £130 (£65 if paid early) and from £60 to £80 (£40 if paid early) for minor contraventions.
Meanwhile, Motorists may face some disruption in the new year due to temporary street closures in the borough for roadworks.
Hyde Crescent NW9, outside No. 71, is due to be closed for three days from January 3 for the installation of a new water connection.
The alternative route will be via Goldsmith Avenue, Hyde Crescent and vice versa.
Creighton Avenue NW2 is set to be shut at its junction with High Road on January 5 for sewer cleaning works.
The diversion will be via High Road, Fortis Green, Twyford Avenue, Church Vale and vice versa.
Also from January 5, a three-day closure is due to take place in Ellesmere Avenue NW7 at its junction with A1 Barnet Way to allow a service pipe relay.
Motorists should use Barnet Way, The Fairway, Fernside Avenue and vice versa instead.
