An advertising campaign has been launched to highlight the possible impact of a no-deal Brexit on local jobs.
It comes after a
from the UK Trade Policy Observatory revealed that a no-deal Brexit could cost up to 1,800 people their jobs in Finchley and Golders Green.
A mobile billboard circulated around Finchley and Golders Green on August 24 (Saturday), reading “We didn’t ‘take back control’ to put 1,800 people in Finchley and Golders Green out of work”.
It will be returning again this weekend.
The campaign is being run by 38 Degrees, an online campaigning organisation that aims to help people make their voices heard on issues they care about.
Ellie Gellard, campaigns director at 38 Degrees, said: “A no-deal Brexit could see hundreds of thousands of people across the country lose their jobs, as barriers to trade hurt British industry. Whether we voted Leave or Remain, no one voted for this.”
"With the Prime Minister failing to rule out a damaging no-deal and with so much at stake, it's vital that MPs who could help stop this hear from their constituents.
“That’s why voters in Finchley and Golders Green, and across the country, are being invited to send a message to their MP: do everything in your power to stop a no-deal Brexit. We didn’t vote to ‘take back control’, for people in Finchley and Golders Green to be put out of work.”
