A woman who entered a carwash despite never using it is astonished, angry and frustrated at having to pay a fine.
Vivian Hassan-Lambert was shocked to discover she had been given a fine for entering a car park despite not parking in the first place and stayed only twenty minutes in a queue for a carwash on February 21.
The 62-year-old author from Whetstone was fed up of waiting any longer and having errands to run she did a three-point turn and left only to receive a fine six days later from the Civil Enforcement Ltd, the company who manage the car park.
It turns out the car's registration plate was read on the way in and Mrs Hassan-Lambert was clocked on as parking despite leaving soon after.
The parking firm told her that she had several days to pay £60 or possibly pay £100 if she was to pay within 28 days
She said: “I was there for twenty minutes to get my car washed, there was a car in front of me, and I had no time, so I had to leave.
“I was just in disbelief I spoke to my husband, and I’m never going to use that car wash again.
Mrs Hassan-Lambert wrote to parking firm about it and was sure they were going to drop it however she was even more astonished with the reply.
She is convinced the appeal didn’t get more than glance since the appeal was rejected with what she presumes was a copy and paste letter.
She says she is willing to go to court over the fine and has since contacted Barnet’s very own parking guru Mr Mustard for help.
She said: “To some extent, I’ll ignore it, I don’t know if I go to court about it.
“I don’t blame the car wash at all.
“Don’t use the car park and don’t even go near it – It’s outrageous and they shouldn’t be letting companies use their car park only to lure people in.
“I’ve been living here for 35 years its not that easy to find a good car wash - its a shame.”
