The best sixth form in the country may be in Barnet, according to newly-released league tables.
In tables released last week by the Sunday Times, Hendon-based Brampton College came top in a run-down of England’s independent sixth form colleges.
Founded in 1989 at a site in Golders Green, the college provides GCSEs and A levels to students aged 15-19 and has a top ‘outstanding’ mark from Ofsted.
At A level, 84 per cent of grades achieved are in the A*-B range and 62 per cent of GCSEs are an A or above.
Principal Bernard Canetti said: “Our ongoing success is very much due to our focus on providing individual support and mentoring, where progress is monitored comprehensively.
“This means any problem areas are quickly identified and results in an outstanding education where our students’ are fully prepared – both academically and in terms of confidence – for sitting their exams.”
Brampton also moved up 65 places on a table of the best academically selective schools in the country.
Student, Joyce Kam said: “At Brampton I have become a more confident person – Brampton teaches you to become an adult, it makes you more eager to learn.
“I have been reassured by my teachers and given a sense of self-belief I never had before.”
