Six community school students have already been invited to return for tea after a ‘wonderful’ volunteering day at Jewish care.
Girls from Hendon’s Ayesha Community School in Montgau Road, organised bingo games, painted nails and talked with Jewish care resident at Kun Mor and George Kiss Home last month.
Teacher Saqiba Mahood, said: “The girls really enjoyed themselves and had a lovely time.
“The residents at the home were so friendly and cooperative and the girls were very happy with the visit. Ayesha Community School would like to thank everyone involved at Jewish Care. We look forward to organising a trip again in the future.”
Simon Morris, chief executive of Jewish Care, was also visiting the home on the same day as the school pupils.
He said: “It was wonderful to see the pupils engaging with the residents – a great example of a meaningful intergenerational, multi-cultural exchange.
“We hope this is the start of a long term relationship with the school and welcome any of the girls back should they be looking for volunteer opportunities.”
