Goalkeeper Chuck Martini has revealed that he is likely to leave Molesey if he is not installed as the new boss.
Martini told the Comet he had been interviewed for the vacant Moles hotseat after the departure of Steve Beeks earlier this month, but the veteran stopper said that he was not handed the job he may leave the Ryman Division One South club.
Beeks left after the board slashed his playing budget, but former Spurs man Martini claimed he was prepared to take on Molesey's financial constraints.
He said: "Of course I would be interested in the post. I have already had an interview, so I'm just waiting on the outcome.
"I see this as my next step in football.
"Any new manager would like a substantial budget to bring in the players they would like but it will be a learning curve for me.
"I have players in my mind who I would like to bring to the club. That might be more difficult with the new budget but such is life."
The 36-year-old declared that if the club turned elsewhere for the role, he may have played his last game for the Moles.
"With the budget being what it is I'm not sure what the club could offer me," he said. "Also, because I have applied for the job, any new boss could see me as a threat, so whether they would want me at the club is another question."
