CCTV footage has been released of a robbery in which an 86-year-old woman was stabbed with a screwdriver.
The robbery took place in an off licence on Friern Barnet Road, Friern Barnet, shortly before 6pm on Saturday, February 14.
The shopkeeper had popped out to pick up some takeaway food nearby, and his 86-year-old mother was left to look after the shop.
Moments later, the suspect walked in, picked up a can of drink and took it to the counter.
As the woman opened the till to give him his change, he jumped up and grabbed the till, and pulled it back towards him.
Startled, the 86-year-old woman shouted at him to stop, and held onto the till before she was stabbed in the hand with a screwdriver, and let go.
The man grabbed a handful of notes and coins before running out of the shop. Approximately £250 was stolen.
The injured woman was taken to a north London hospital and treated for her injuries.
The suspect is described as a black man, 6ft tall and of medium build. He was wearing dark clothing and a peaked dark coloured hat.
The Metropolitan Police want to hear from anyone who may recognise him.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting image 171436 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
