Barnet residents are among the worst in the capital when it comes to buying a television licence, according to figures released by the body which manages their sale.
TV Licensing revealed that last year, 2,406 people were prosecuted for failing to buy a licence, placing Barnet sixth in the list of London boroughs. The figure is a small rise on the previous year, when there were 72 fewer prosecutions and the borough was placed ninth.
Newham topped the list with 3,914 evaders.
TV Licensing spokeswoman Leander Clarke said: "Each licence fee evader we catch risks prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000."
