Barnet Council has unveiled three new environmentally friendly, five-bedroom homes to provide temporary accommodation for people who need housing.
The homes, in Summers Lane, include solar panels to provide power for hot water, and enhanced roof insulation.
Double glazing, condensing boilers and thermostatic valves on every radiator will all help to keep energy consumption down.
Councillor Lynne Hillan, cabinet member for community services, said: "The council is looking to become more environmentally friendly across all the services, and this is just one example of how we can practically be more green.
"As well as the green benefits, these properties will provide an excellent living environment for families placed here."
