At the Royal Courts of Justice on June 22, Annington Homes were granted a possession order against a disabled man, for eviction from his home on Sweets Way, Whetstone. The judge granted a six-week stay of execution to allow alternative accommodation to be found.
The regeneration of the Sweets Way estate, involving the demolition of brick-built homes originally constructed for the families of British Army personnel, is a vast development. Many families have already been evicted, after attempts by Barnet council to rehouse them were unsuccessful.
The case of Mostafa and his family of six presents Annington Homes with the opportunity to become perhaps world-famous for generosity and public spiritedness. They can avail themselves of this public relations exercise by dropping their action and providing suitable and affordable accommodation for Mostafa and his family.
I hope they take this opportunity.
