Fears have been expressed over a snooker club's application for a licence to serve alcohol and provide entertainment into the early hours of the morning.
The owners of Tally Ho Snooker Club, in Lambert Way, are applying for a licence which would allow them to show films, play live and recorded music, and hold dance performances from 7pm to 3am Sunday to Thursday, and 7pm to 4am Friday and Saturday.
In a letter to the licensing sub-committee asking for the application in its current form to be rejected, Sergeant Mark Altman from Whetstone police station said: "If the licence was granted as per the application, the premises would be able to operate the function room as a nightclub or pub-style venue open to anyone."
But David Atlee, manager of the club, said: "It's a snooker club, not a night club."
A decision on the application was due to be made yesterday at 2pm.
