An Australian design and manufacturing company has come up with an intriguing trading name for a new division of its business - Hendon Semiconductors.
Integrated Electronic Solutions specialises in microelectronic products including integrated circuits in bipolar technology and surface-mounted printed circuitboard assemblies and modules. For those of you without an engineering degree, that means bits and pieces such as silicon chips.
According to Electronicstalk.com - a website providing news for electronics engineers worldwide' - the new name complements the business's introduction of integrated circuits within the North American market, and supports the release of their high performance data interface products for two-wire bus systems'. Fascinating.
Brenton Scott, IES managing director, said: "The new name, Hendon Semiconductors, will provide an improved image and focus for our drive to be recognised as a leading supplier in our specialist integrated circuits markets."
You may by now be wondering why our antipodean friends have chosen to use the name of a London suburb for their product. Their choice has nothing to do with north-west London, and everything to do with the little-known suburb of Adelaide in which their company is based - Hendon.
