It is unforgivable that Avenue House is distributing slanderous literature in its gardens about Finchley Arts Centre Trust (FACT). Its only motive for rubbishing' FACT is greed - it wishes to acquire the restored Bothy without having contributed a penny towards its renovation, and to rent it out.
Although it is Avenue House which has reneged on its previously declared intention to provide a lease to FACT, it is, in reality, Barnet Council which has hung the latter out to dry, by not safeguarding the Bothy's future with FACT when it created Avenue House Estate Trust. The council made the huge mistake of trusting it to do the decent thing.
To suggest that FACT did not have proper insurance, fire protection or safe electrical installation is utterly scandalous. The director of the project, Michael Holden, was chief executive of the Globe Theatre on the Thames during its construction, and is punctilious about every detail concerning electrical safety, fire regulations and insurance.
