A burglar who broke into a house and stole expensive jewellery has been jailed.

Dannie O'Leary, 21, of Richmond Road, Tottenham, was sentenced to 33 months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty at Harrow Crown Court to burglary and driving while disqualified.

On March 25 this year, a 57-year-old woman arrived at her home in Russell Lane, Barnet, to find her front door had been forced open and a large amount of gold jewellery stolen from her bedroom.

After studying CCTV footage, police identified O’Leary watching the house before walking up the drive.

He was arrested the following day on suspicion of burglary and charged on March 27 at Hendon Magistrates’ Court.
