Two “caring and generous” six-year-olds were given the red carpet treatment after helping their school secure a new climbing frame.
Best friends Olivia Fichardo and Leon Dragojevic raised £766 for Dollis Infant School, in Pursley Road, Mill Hill, to help replace its dangerous and rusty playground equipment.
The pair took part in the sponsored 11-hour walk around the capital last month, following every stop on the Monopoly board.
Thanks to their efforts, along with grants from the National Lottery and the Thomas Cook Fund, the school has now secured the £12,000 needed for the new climbing frame, which will be built at the end of the term.
The school celebrated at a special assembly on Wednesday, and Olivia and Leon were presented with medals and Monopoly toys by the Mayor and Mayoress of Barnet, Councillor Mark Shooter and his wife Melissa Shooter.
The red carpet was rolled out, and photos of their journey were shown to the school.
Headteacher Christine Rayner said: “I am incredibly proud. They are delightful children - polite, caring, and giving.
“They have done a very generous act for all of their friends and the children at the school. Not only those at the school now, but for future pupils too. The rest of the school was extremely grateful, and very proud of their friends.
“They spent a whole Saturday walking round London, when they are only little. They must have been very tired. They completed the whole of it with the thought they were raising money not just for themselves, but the whole school.”
