A man has been charged after a woman was dragged along the ground during a handbag robbery.

Jerzy Baranski, 25, from New Barnet, was charged with robbery and common assault in connection with the incident Saturday, May 30.

At 10.20pm, a 51-year-old woman was walking along Eastcheap, in the City, with three other people, when a man from behind grabbed her handbag.

As the victim held onto her bag, she was pulled to the ground and dragged along the floor.

City of London Police officers were called to the scene and arrested a man.

He was taken into custody on the same day after appearing at the City of London Magistrates’ Court, and will appear in custody on June 15 at the Old Bailey.
