One of north London’s biggest music festivals is set to celebrate its 20th birthday.
The Mill Hill Music Festival will feature jazz, classical music, reggae and more when it returns next Friday.
Held in halls, pubs and churches across Mill Hill, the biannual event will last for eight days.
Hartley Hall will host The BBC Elstree Concert Band, who will play music from films including Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark, as well as Shir, one of the UK’s leading Jewish music bands.
The Jazz Repertory Company will perform 100 Years of Jazz in 99 Minutes, which spans the entire history of the genre, while Bruce Springsteen fans can watch tribute band The Boss UK.
Other highlights will include reggae from Joe Angel and The Pamodzi Band, while OperaUpClose will return to perform Rossini’s The Barber of Sevillle.
The line-up also features an evening of classical music with the Hermitage Quartet, while ukulele band JJ and the Ukettes will entertain at The Adam and Eve pub.
Festival organiser Roger Tichborne said: “We have got a great programme and some brilliant acts. It’s all looking really good.
“The objective is to give people a chance to see top quality music on their doorsteps, and to give local musicians and artists somewhere to play in Mill Hill.
“We always try and make it special, but we have pushed the boat out getting the BBC in. The 100 Years of Jazz in 99 Minutes will also be really good.”
The festival is organised by unpaid volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, and many of the events are free.
