I am shocked by the irresponsible behaviour of Andrew Dismore MP in relation to Councillor Brian Gordon's fancy dress outfit.
By his hysterical outburst against Mr Gordon and Councillor Mike Freer, our MP seems, no doubt for party political purposes, to be inciting an atmosphere of racial tension where it clearly does not exist.
I could not believe my eyes when I saw television footage of Mr Dismore, surrounded by what resembled a banner-waving rent a mob', chanting provocative slogans against the fancy dress outfit outside Hendon Town Hall. It was a most undignified way for an MP to behave and by so doing he brought discredit upon himself and the constituents he supposedly represents.
Mr Dismore is obviously worried about his ever-diminishing majority in the Hendon electorate. If he thinks he will boost it by his latest actions, he is very much mistaken. On the contrary, he may well have shot himself in the foot.
